Power to You(th) in Ethiopia is led by Amref Health Africa, Youth Network for Sustainable Development and Hiwot Ethiopia. It aims to ensure that adolescents and youth (under 29) are meaningfully included in discussions and decisions, particularly those related to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
By increasing the participation of young people from various backgrounds and groups in political and civic space, the programme aims to improve youth-led advocacy in achieving change about harmful practices, SGBV and poor sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes, including unintended pregnancy.
The programme is implemented in Amhara's agrarian and afar regions. Ethiopian partners carry out the program in eight Woredas (districts), five in Amhara and three in Afar.
Amhara was chosen because of the high prevalence of teenage pregnancies, child marriage, and SGBV.
