Power to You(th)

PTY Ghana Virtual Global Summit

  • February 12, 2024February 19, 2024
  • PTY YOUTH

The fight against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is an ongoing struggle that demands global attention and concerted efforts. This February 12th, 2024, Power to You(th) Ghana is hosting a Twitter Space, gathering advocates, survivors, and stakeholders to amplify survivor voices, drive change, and foster collaboration in the fight against FGM.

Understanding the Issue:
FGM remains a critical concern affecting millions of girls and women worldwide, inflicting both immediate and long-term physical and psychological harm. Despite international recognition of its violation of human rights, the practice persists, with millions of girls at risk annually. The International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM serves as a reminder of the urgency to end this harmful practice and support survivors.

The Summit’s Objectives:

  1. Amplifying Survivor Voices: The summit provides a platform for survivors to share their experiences, ensuring their voices are heard and valued in the movement to end FGM.
  2. Policy and Advocacy: The summit aims to identify key priorities for effective policy advocacy by integrating survivor perspectives into policy-making processes.
  3. Resource Allocation: Highlighting the importance of investing in survivor-led movements, the summit seeks to inform decision-makers about the need for resource allocation to support survivor-centred programs.
  4. Catalyzing Change: Through dialogue and collaboration, the summit aims to inspire concrete actions and commitments to accelerate progress in ending FGM and supporting survivors.
  5. Knowledge Sharing: The summit provides a platform for sharing experiences, best practices, and lessons learned from survivor-led initiatives, promoting cross-sectoral learning and knowledge exchange.

Join the Conversation!
PtY Ghana invites all stakeholders, advocates, and survivors to participate in the Twitter Space on February 12th, 2024, at noon GMT. Together, let’s amplify survivor voices, drive change, and work towards ending FGM and supporting survivors globally.
