Power to You(th) Uganda proudly concludes the year with an empowering and impactful event, ‘Girls Rising with ASTAR,’ hosted in collaboration with the vibrant Mbale City creative art industry.
Today marked a significant gathering aimed at spotlighting and empowering girls while raising awareness about the pressing issue of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and other harmful practices prevalent in Mbale. This event, aptly named #GirlsRising, was a celebration of resilience and solidarity among girls in the community.
At the heart of this inspiring event lies the story of a local female artist, whose personal journey involves battling the trauma of sexual abuse. Drawing from her own experiences, she stands as a beacon of strength and determination, passionately advocating for girls’ rights and their fight against SGBV, child marriage, and teenage pregnancy.
The ‘Girls Rising with ASTAR’ event embodies a powerful narrative of resilience and empowerment. It serves as a platform for girls to come together, share experiences, and harness the strength within their community. Through storytelling, art, and dialogue, the event amplifies voices and cultivates a spirit of unity and support among the girls of Mbale.
Power to You(th) Uganda is honored to stand alongside these brave girls and dedicated advocates, working tirelessly to create a future where every girl feels empowered, safe, and free from harmful practices.
